I think the Greek words some of the units say is a little off in pronunciation (the archers seem ok though)

Don't the models seem a lot lower in quality than conquerors models?

The world is nice, but the buildings/characters seem so much less detailed =(

oh my oh my oh my. Me lovey very very much. The graphics are fantastic. One of the big complaints about games transitioning from 2D to 3D are that you lose detail in the graphics. Ensemble did a very very good job in avoiding this. The little models look great, in fact they look as good as the teeny sprites from AoK did imo. And the animation is of course 100x better than sprite based animation. I had forgotten how much fun just BUILDING stuff is (since in WC3 you have to concentrate so heavily on just pumping units).

I just played it for about 5 hours and I gotta say I love it.

Played it at 1024 resolution with everything “high” details, texture, etc (16bit color though)

This game fucking rocks. If you liked AoE and AoK, you definitely will love this one. The gameplay is the same and all.
At one point I had over 200 units (well equivalent to over 200 units because some units take two or three spots) and I didn’t have any kind of slow down or choppiness.
This 3D engine runs smoother than AoK’s 2D engine ever did. Well on my PC anyway.

There are quite a few additions to the gameplay like gods and heroes are two major ones I’d say. There’re so many other good things about this game. I don’t even know where to start. The gates can be built just by clicking on a wall section instead of choosing it as a building and trying to fit it properly into the wall. All the unique units that I’ve seen are fun and add a lot of variety to the gameplay. My farms never expired. You can increase you population limit by capturing other cities and more and more and more.

The interface is a second nature to any AoE players. Although I couldn’t find formations icon or idle villager icon either but there are short keys of course to do that.

I had music off.

Sounds are a bit weird. I liked action sounds in AoE 2 a lot. It’s pure matter of taste though.

I was really worried that after such a masterpiece as AoE 2 they wouldn’t be able to make anything cooler that that (I’m true fanatic of AoE 2), oh boy I was wrong. They could and they did. Good Job Guys at ES!!!

Welp, I'm picking this one up this week... What a game, damn fun demo. I loved AoE and AoK, but this is just a few notches higher. The different gods/civilizations are varied enough to make this one alot better.

So, had anybody actually downloaded and played this thing yet? Impressions?

Arrrrrg. Fileshack has prematurely ejaculated on me 4 times now. I keep getting "Download Complete" less than 1MB into the demo. The worst part is having to get in line all over again.

Never had a problem with Fileshack 'til now :(

Ok, I prefer RTS games to have less micromanagement such as with Kohan. Now I don't mind doing some economic micromanagement, but when it comes to the actual fighting, I'd rather let units fight it out while I try to maneuver them into a more advantageous position (like trying to flank a company, and having it actually work).

Will this game appeal to me?

Hmm very nice, no real gripes about the game thus far execpt the sound effects are kinda wimpy and some other minor things...

Everything else is perfect as far as Im concerned - definate buy.

They are horribly and completely wrong still. Throw into the mix a demo this size, and with the demand it has, and honestly if you arent a Mercury member right now I'd suggest just trying back late tonight. The public servers are jammed beyond belief.

If the display size/art scales properly with different resolutions (ala wc3), I think I might buy this game.

YAY something to stick to until we Koreans can see legitimate copies of AOM here.

Can u believe AOM got 18(ratings) here in Korea? That forced MS Korea to 'modify' the game for 12(young) ratings and we have to wait until the end of November. Frigging sucks.

Oh, and 'Mech 4: Mercenaries' can't be sold to those under 18 in Korea. WTF.

This game is great.
