The newer parts actually have lower power consumption... man i read these boards and think.. my god.. are these retards actually typing this crap? AMD has done 2 things as of late.. jack and shit.. admit it fanboys.. jesus christ..

Think about this guys, if Intel are leaking samples 10 months ahead it means that they are worried that Clawhammer is going to smack them in a big way... much like Nvidia pull the "new driver" stunt every time ATI announce something...

I personally think tom is with who is innovative and performs the best. He was all up in AMD's junk when they were knocking intels dick in the dirt at the same clock speeds.. but for the most part Intel has been cranking up the CPU, BUS and memory speeds and kicking the snot out of AMD.. yay they beat intel in like 2 out of 30 benchmarks.. every squirrell gets a nut.. I am an AMD user but think intel has been working theyre ass off as of late and deserve some praise.. I hope amd has been real quiet on the innovation front because they are working on something big.. and if and when they release it and it kicks intel in the jimmy im sure u will see THG tout its technical marvels as well.. I mean come on the 100/400 and 133/533 Northwood parts just knock AMD's dick in the dirt..

One problem, according to sources close to the matter, is that when the internal chip frequency hits 6GHz, as it does with the 3.06GHz because the adders are double clocked to get the work done in a single pipeline cycle, Intel will have to eventually re-engineer the design of the P4 to keep it viable. But such a task is of such magnitude that to achieve the frequencies the firm is projecting in 2005 or so, it is probably more realistic to start another design rather than re-engineer all the innards of the processor.

Just by looking at the graph it doesn't seem like the front side bus thing means a whole lot. I know very little about the pipelines but the p4 3.6 has a 533 fsb and the athlon 3400 had only a 166 and was still faster. Maybe it's the benchmark though.

Intel demo'd a 3.5Ghz Northwood when they intro'd the NW at 2.0Ghz, it was aircooled too.

Intel's labs are always 16-months or so ahead of what we can actually buy. (or so it seems anyways)
