Late Night Consoling

As much as I hate linking to subscriber-only content, I have to mention this Steel Battalion movie that's up at GameSpot. If you're curious about the controller and want to see it in action, this movie, in which a Capcom PR rep demos the game for the camera, provides the clearest, best look at it to date. As I regrettably missed this game at E3, it was the first time I've really seen the thing in great detail, and I must say, it is absolutely nuts. The switches, dials, sticks and pedals on this controller are easily the best ever conceived for a home system. I probably won't be able to afford it when it's released later this year, but I'll sure have some serious geek lust for it.

Xbox Steel Battalion Footage For those of you who don't have GameSpot Complete accounts, some freely available movies showing off Steel Battalion have been posted to the game's official Japanese site. Links to 'em all are up at PlanetXbox.
GameCube PS2 Xbox GameBoy Advance ECTS Madness Those British blokes at Computer and Video Games are enjoying their few days in the spotlight as ECTS goes on outside their doorstep, and so there's a crapload of stuff over there tonight. GameCube PS2 Capcom Q&A Also from ECTS, CvG has conducted a Q&A with Tatsuya Minami of Capcom. Specifically they ask questions about Resident Evil 0, but there are a couple in there on other subjects, such as the possibility of a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and how Resident Evil Online is a departure for the series.
PS2 Capcom Q&A EX 2 + Alpha Because nothing Capcom-related can go by without a sequel, there's a second Capcom Q&A up at CvG from ECTS, this time talking with the producer of Devil May Cry 2 about their upcoming action sequel.
GameCube Skies of Arcadia Legend Japanese Release Date Apparently that GameCube port of Skies of Arcadia will be out sooner than anyone had originally thought...it's due for release on November 28th in Japan.
PS2 Eye Toy Revealed A very strange PS2 project was shown off at ECTS...called Eye Toy, it comes with a USB camera that tracks movement and uses it for game interaction. Here's GameSpot's writeup of a demonstration of the game (or games, as it's a series of mini-games).
PS2 Join the PS2 EverQuest Beta Sony's looking for PS2 owners to join their beta test of EverQuest Online Adventures. Suffice to say you'll need a PS2, the just-released network adapter and an Internet connection to apply. If you meet that criteria, head over and fill out the application.
Xbox Brute Force Interview GameSpot has conducted an interview with Erin Roberts of Digital Anvil, talking with the designer about their upcoming squad-based Xbox title Brute Force.
GameBoy Advance C2 Engine Movies Straight from ECTS, Pocket.IGN has posted movies showing off AGB Games' C2 Engine, the well-documented 3D engine in development for the GBA.

Ok if you had to choose between GTA3 or Mafia which would you buy? Assuming you can't get both. GTA3 is loads of fun and I enjoyed playing it on the ps2 but Mafia looks so purty.
