There has been chipsets that support 333mhz FSB for awhile now. VIA has one that supports 400mhz. Last I heard tho AMD wasn't willing to spend the money to validate the Athlon for anything above 266 in this economy.

Oh, and I'm waiting for hammer as well. Just wish they hadn't named it Opteron, yuck.

I can't even remember the specs on the Hammer... the Hammer seems to be like DNF... talked about for years, nothing on the line yet but press releases ! :P

I gotta check out some sites on this mythical Hammer... are any updated ?? Links appreciated !!

The point of the article is that they think AMD is going to be releasing CPUs
that take advantage of the pc2700 ram. Ie 333mhz bus built into the CPU.
So the 5% increase we get now with 266mhz bus cpus with pc2700 ram
will increase, hopefully to 10% or 15%. Maybe more, which would make the Xp2600
very competive with current intel 533mhz bus CPUs.
