First Post!

We had a show on Counter-Strike on TV here last night. It was a documentary kind of show from a Canadian parent, who goes around trying to discover more about the game and the whole LAN gaming subculture (going to E3, CPL qualification events, etc) after his son gets addicted to the game as he puts it. The show focused heavily on the violence in the games, and had various parents complaining about this (as well as Lieutenant Colonel Dave Grossman of course) and the fact that their kids dropped everything including homework (what a surprise) to be able to play Counter-Strike.
Counter-Strike creator Minh "Gooseman" Le was interviewed as well. This was a bit of a funny moment because the guy making this documentary had no idea what to expect, and though there would be some madman and initially he saw all of Le's research material and war magazines, but then noticed a picture of a baby seal on his wall and realized Minh Le was actually a very normal person.
The documentary didn't exactly end with a "and now I know all is good" note though, as the son of the guy making this show dropped out of school for a while because of Counter-Strike and though he got back in school later his grades weren't exactly good while still playing a lot of the game. It was definitely interesting to see a show on one game specifically, but the focus was still largely on the violence and how bad things happen to kids (not that I'm saying that's not the case for some) who play them. They did show a model from Counter-Strike 2 though, looked pretty cool! ;)

Movie: I'm a doctor, not a doorstop.
