As Steve mentioned in ER last night, the Half-Life/CS release was almost something of a non-event. There was a lot more demand last time, though of course this release still beats traffic of any other game release. We'll only be adding more mirrors as we go along though, so we'll be prepared for another CS 1.4 like release. Now we just need the actual service.. Seeing how I still have no possibility of capturing the E3 video footage on a computer, I'll be transcribing the CliffyB interview as that's the least I can do. Things really didn't work out the way I wanted :(

  • Hi guys and gals, I'm back. Got a shiny new cable modem in a neighborhood filled with mostly retirees, meaning that I pretty much have all the bandwidth to myself. Even in the unlikely event that the 80-year-old down the street is interested in computers, the internet and high-speed access, they're just going to be sending email and playing online Euchre all day. Score.

So how is that bandwidth? The first file I downloaded capped off at around 160 kb/s, and my ping to sof2.eof.net is 45, down from 80. I'm a happy camper so far.

Now I'm waiting for my computer desk to arrive. All my equipment is set up on the floor, and typing with my legs crossed Indian-style is rather uncomfortable.
