Xbox Controller S
by Maarten Goldstein, Mar 02, 2002 8:42am PSTGamespy has posted an interview with Microsoft's David Hufford who reveals plans for the Xbox controller S, a smaller controller for the console. This one will cost $39.95 when it's released early May, and it's actually not totally identical to the Japanese controller.
GameSpy: Will the new pad ever be bundled with the Xbox? David Hufford: We're not planning on that now. We've seen high satisfaction for the current Xbox Controller that comes with the console, and we're sticking to that plan.

Big is NOT always better, unless they are appealing to the most stupid "hick" redneck kind of backwards people in the universe which I sincerely doubt would be looking at a 50$+ mouse.
I like things that are comfortable to use, despite a lot of young people apparently getting bigger each generation, the average size of people (to my knowledge) on the male side of things is around the 5'10 mark, now I'm 5'8 but I know people 6'1 who think the intellimouse explorer is an "abomination" in size.
FORTUNATELY for me, I'm no console gamer, so the XBox controller can chew my nads.

For what it is worth (read: you may value this opinion or not) I hated the Xbox controller with a passion. Notice the "past-tense" overtones in the preceeding sentence. I say hated, because after an hour or so with Halo, I never thought twice about its size/weight/whatever.
Suffice to say, despite my "small hands", I find the controller size and button layout quite comfortable. However, I will most likely purchase a small controller or two to go along with the two standard ones I currently own. At the least, this will give myself and guests a variety... aren't I the thoughtful host.
(P.S -- JSRF > GTA3. There, I said it. Mark this as informative because of it!)

I love transcripts of spoken interviews, they are so much funnier than e-mail ones. It's strange to see written down how people actually talk.
Well at least MadCatz isn't the only game in town; my roommate has broken two of those controllers (same thing too; the right trigger gets stuck) over the course of two months.

I'm a bit confused here. When I bought MY x-box, I recieved the standard BIG and FLIMSY controller that everyone seems to favor the Japanese controller over. However, upon a recent trip to the local Best Buy, I noticed that the X-box display they were using had different controllers than the ones I had at home.
On inspection, they had no Japanese markings, or distiguishable packaging differences. In fact, I could no longer find any new controllers that resembles my own. This new contoller was more solid, and better shapped (although still rather large). Is this the Japanese controller or the new, S controller that microsoft speaks of?
It was about $34.. same price as the old controllers.

Too dark to get any brand name recognition, too light to be unnoticable.
Are they looking to sue anyone who uses the images or something?
Am I rambling?
