The Arx Fatalis website is hosting a 151mb demo for this first person RPG game. A mirror is up at Gamigo as well as 3D Gamers. The demo should provide you with about an hour of gameplay.

Okay, I successfully downloaded the demo this time and gave it a try. Not to shabby. The control scheme isn't very configurable and that is giving me a little trouble but I am adapting. A game like this needs a manual at hand to really do it right. The atmosphere is handled well after you get past the first level. Gawd, I hate spiders.

This game Kicks the dumb outta dumbos that only play CS, but seriously folks this game is awsome. Ive been a fan of this genre since dungeon master on the amiga so as soon as it comes out, IM GETTIN IT!!!

Well, don't bother with the demo at the Arx Fatalis website. I was downloading at about 30kb/sec and when it said it was 48 percent complete, it suddenly jumped ahead and said it was complete and downloaded the exe. Needless to say, when I tried to install it, nothing happened other than it saying it didn't have the link to a necessary DLL. Then it flickered, went to desktop with a window asking me if I wanted to install it, again. Needless to say, it sits in my recycle bin. Maybe I will try again later.

I was a huge Ultima Underworld fan.

Ultima Underworld, this isn't.

This is the first game I've seen that appears to mimic a record player for its dialogue. As the NPCs talk, you can hear the record skip and then they repeat lines. Bizarre.
