Toshiba's Desktop Notebook

CNet is reporting that Toshiba will be launching a new Pentium 4 notebook later this week. But instead of using a special notebook CPU, Toshiba will be using a regular sized desktop computer Pentium 4 CPU. It will help Toshiba bring the price of the notebook down. What this means for battery life and heat is not mentioned.

An interesting concept without a doubt. I'm positive many laptop-owners don't really need the portability and battery life provided by laptops today. Surely there are also many that DO, but offering more options for the end customer can't be a bad thing, right?

As long as it doesn't overheat I coun't care less about the battery life. I just want a decent notebook for easy LANing.

I knew someone that had a laptop with a desktop chip. He could even leave it on for up to like two hours before it would overheat and shut off. Oh and you couldn't actually keep it on your lap because it would cook your legs.
