Unreal Postal
by jason bergman, Feb 03, 2002 1:49pm PSTBetter keep this one from Lieberman...Running With Scissors has announced today (or actually tomorrow, according to their press release) that they have licensed the Unreal Warfare technology (yes, that's what it's officially called now, despite the fact that Epic has never announced that game) for none other than Postal 2. Here's an excerpt from the enthusiastic press release:
Today, the most dangerous videogame development company on the planet, Running With Scissors, announced POSTAL 2 is coming for REAL! "It's as much fun as pouring gasoline on a grease fire and caffeinating sex rolled into one!" screamed a jubilant Vince Desi in referring to licensing Epic Games' UNREAL™ Warfare engine. "The spineless bastards who pretend to represent the interests of the non game-playing public are going to **** themselves when they see this!" Why make POSTAL 2? As a responsible videogame development company, our first obligation is to our fans and all video game players. Wracked with remorse over the legendary POSTAL and the irreparable damage to the mental fabric of society it caused, we decided to atone by making a "politically corrected" game about the most boring subject we could think of: a guy going to buy milk.

Which do you think will get more hype from the media, Postal 2 or GTA 4?

Malice against little digital people simply for the sake of malice is boring and infantile - I hope they've got something more intelligent than their first effort with better graphics up their sleeves or it'll just suck all over again while simultaneously drawing more heat from people who like to cause videogame-makers problems because of content.
Postal was a gaming watermark only with respect to bad taste in lieu of actual fun.

I beta-tested the first one, heh. Pretty fun ass game at first although it does drag on towards the end and the rocket turrets in the last few levels were totally out of place.
Personally, I'm really looking forward to how the sequel turns out, especially with such good tech behind it.

By that they mean "The game that sold 5 copies because a) it sucked and b) the media is too fixated on Doom."
