Itanium Fails Compaq Tests
by Maarten Goldstein, Nov 15, 2001 6:31am PSTZDNet reports that Compaq is not releasing their Intel Itanium servers just yet, as Intel's new CPU didn't pass their server stress test. Both the 733mhz and 800mhz version of the Itanium have problems during these tests. The Itanium was already released much later than planned, and according to a Dell general manager "Customer interest for Itanium servers is 'effectively zero' ". Not too positive for Chipzilla.
