I'll still be buying AMD cpu's for my next one.....

Could wind up like "super 7" - most people went to the C300 instead of the K62-450 etc, but some "AMD diehards" stuck with AMD and got the K6.

Just as intel want to use the p4 as their main thing, and may even release new chips, I'm more than happy to stick with AMD for the time being - even with Q3 benchmarks slightly higher on the p4.

Getting a 1.5 or 1.8ghz (somewhere around there) TRUE(not "XP rating) AMD will be a nice cpu.

I intend to support these guys, but I DON'T intend to support VIA or Creative - both have been in the market a long time and still make silly fuck ups.

Fools.

Um.. if they are still selling the same amount of inventory, then how can they cut costs by closing plants? Were the extra plants not doing anything?

Hopefully this isn't going to impact AMD's ability to keep the market supplied, or they might see their share start to dwindle again.

That sucks.

Oh and to all the intel fanboys ... you really should learn about the hardware before you make such strong opinions. AMD has a MUCH better cpu architecture than Intel does. Their instruction set gets more operations done in less clockcycles, and in fact, intel purposly makes their instructions run using more clockcycles so they will get a higher crate.

That is why a 1.4ghz TBird can *still* outpreform a 2.0ghz P4 in many benchmarks. Thats with a 600mhz difference. It just grinds on me the way people buy into the marketing hype that is clockrate.

Now its not that intel's processors suck...they are nice, but AMD's are just better :D. And I have technical information to back that up, not just random unbased statements like 'I LOVE STABILITY!!! WOHOO!'

Ok now. Avarone go out and buy an AMD processor. Any model will do. We need AMD alive and well to give Intel some competition. If it weren't for AMD, we'd all be sitting here with PII-450's.
