Halo Update, Video

Rampancy is the latest site to receive the Halo update. Bungie's Matt Soell talks about framerate optimization, work on AI, multiplayer testing and sound work. Meanwhile, Fileplanet is hosting a new Halo interview. Bungie's Marty O'Donnell and Joe Staten talk about the game (and show it) in a 44mb MPG file. The video runs for almost 7 minutes. It's still uncertain at this point on what platforms Halo will be released. Assumed was a release on the Xbox with PC and Mac following, but recently Microsoft sites and pre-order box art at stores has shown "Only on XBox".

If Halo is indeed now XBox only I'm indeed no longer interested. I hope keeping halo "probably also for Mac/PC" wasn't just a cheap attempt to keep PC gamers watching it. Assuming it is really XBox only, I know from now on I wont be.

Funny that, though. At a MacWorld show a year or so ago, I believe it was MacWorld New York in summer of 2000 a Bungie guy came up and said "Halo will be 100% mac and pc!!" and everyone cheered. Also many N64 games which are later (or previously) ported to other consoles/PC's say "ONLY FOR NINTENDO 64!" quite loudly on the box... so who knows.

/me is gonna wait to get an Xbox when I see more 3rd party support and some additional kickass games. I hate spending lots of money on a system that only has 2-5 games I'd play on it a year after its release. PS2...

When I first saw Halo I was very impressed. That was then, this is now. It now lacks that "wow" factor compared to other games we've seen, and the longer we wait the less impressed I'll be. If King Gates wants me to buy a copy he will need to release soon, not six months or a year from now in an effort to persuade everyone they need an XBox. Delaying a PC release for no other reason than force feeding a console to everyone will only persuade my dollars to look elsewhere.

Does anyone know how to fix the "sound only" problem? I have a 44 meg .wmv file sitting here on my hd. All I get is the audio when I try to run it. If I wasted 3 minutes downloading this, I'm gonna be hella pissed.

isn't it practically certain halo will be on the pc? bungie mentioned several times they are working on it, specificaly on pc multiplayer.
it's just that ms hasn't confirmed this, so that they won't be lying when they say "only on x-box". they must be thinking we're stupid.

Mmmmmmmmm. Cant wait for this! Now I'm not buying an xbox, but you can be damn sure I'll be first in line to rent one for however long it takes me to play and beat the game. It looks Fucking A!

btw, from all they say in this video, it sounds like the X-Box version will be the one
to get...it'll be the closest to how they wanted the game to be because it takes advantage
of a ton of x-box related stuff, especially sound-wise.
