Asus driver petition

The evil cheaters at Asus, the guys with the drivers that you can use to look through walls, have posted a forum where you can vote for the drivers and voice your opinion directly to the evil asus guys. You should all go there and voice your.. *cough* "humble" opinions about asus and their drivers. Give asus your two cents!. Eternal fame to ILF.

  • The damn petition page is pretty b0rked right now. I tried to post this there, but i doubt it submitted.

i am kinda surprised this story isnt getting more attention, and feedback...but maybe people are jaded on the state of things.

first off, i must state that i am stunned at the Asus quote i just read:

these drivers "were developed for ASUS VGA card users to have a faster learning curve or a chance to test their skills with a new challenge when playing 3D games."

nice marketing spin, but uh... lets get real.

these drivers were made for cheating. period.

the 'more light' feature is no big deal - there are other ways to increase the lighting in most any game, but the wireframe and transparent walls?!? that's always been called cheating. what else can you call it?

all game developers might as well make their levels a big open field with no buildings or objects in them...

you say, "a user...can see his enemy behind the wall, enabling him to aim in advance, and thus make a kill easily."

uhm, that is the definition of cheating isnt it? an unfair advantage that only some users can get. oh, but they have to BUY YOUR CARD to use these drivers... sigh.
what some people will do for $$$.

i mean, this is so blatent its hard to understand who you think your kidding...

if it was meant as a developer tool they would not be avaiable as a standard option for any user to select.

the upshot of this move by Asus? i seriously doubt any serious online game developer will go out of their way to make sure their game is compatible with your card/drivers. in fact, i would imagine many will, if there is a way they, try to make their games NOT FUNCTION at all on an Asus card with those drivers.

as a server admin, if i could somehow detect that a player was using an Asus card, i would ban him on the spot. if only it were possible....

in the end if Asus and others that would profit from creating cheats for online games are successful, online gaming could almost completely die off... and with it much of the gaming industry.

    brilliant legacy to leave behind.

  • imagine the board meeting.
HeadOfTech: We made this cool see through drivers on the weekend, it is maximum funnay playing against people with it!
MarketingDrone: People can win with ASUS then!
HeadOT: No, it was only a bit of fun on the weekend, its not very nice really.
CEO: They will buy it to win!
HeadOT: yeah, but then all our customers will eventually be lam3rs and idiots and the fans will hate us
CEO: hardcore fanboys are annoying anyway, if we can sell 10 times more product, it will be good.
HeadOT: umm, thats sorta what 3dfx said too it seems (to himself: What have i done?)
CEO: Fuck you tech boy, what do you know about business. Roll it out bitch!
    MarketingDrone: yes daddy!
