Just about all the oldschool gamers out there remember Metroid and Super Metroid and are probably eagerly anticipating the next Metroid title that is currently being worked on for the Nintendo GameCube. Well some pretty big news, according to IGN the game is going to be a FPS title, with a possible 3rd person view toggle.

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge Metroid is the game that started it all for me, I'm dying for this game. I really cant see how the game playing as a FPS will really retain much of the feel or theme of the previous games but damn I still want it.

  • i've never seen so many ignorant cynics in my life. let's give the game a shot, please. for starters, 3d isn't what i would call a "fad." i don't think Quake was the product of any fad. the definition of fad has just been stomped on lately. people are using the word "fad" to describe anything they're getting tired of, or anything new that they don't like.

how many of you have actually seen the game yet? zero. and they haven't exactly released a motherlode of shots yet, besides those released before this announcement. almost no information is known, except that it will be an FPS. i can understand being cynical about it. i mean, admittedly, i was a little disappointed with the way Zelda64 turned out. (lots of good, lots of bad, too short) but they're not TRYING to make bad games. they've been pretty good with their games in the past. Nintendo made the games that kept N64 alive.

the system isn't out yet. we know almost nothing about the game. but we've already got idiots like #15 and #367 who already think they're the all-knowing zenmasters of consoles and games that haven't even been released yet. let's give it a chance, alright?

  • Wait, what happened to Shigeru Miyamoto?!?!? He was the brain child behind most of the original greats from the Marios to the Zeldas! If he left Nintendo, then kiss Nintendo's ass goodbye. Maybe Nintendo realized that putting all of their eggs in one man's basket was a risky thing. During the N64 era, they piled Shigeru's plate so high, and then expected everything he touched to turn to gold. The only N64 games that I think are worth buying are Mario 64, Zelda 64, and Waverace 64. And for godsakes, they need to stop the "64" shit.

Thankgod I still have my NES and SNES. Fuck emu too... the emulators still haven't gotten it exactly right. The NES ones are getting close, but no cigar yet.
