Looks like Sega will slash the Dreamcast console prices once again, this time to just $99. They are doing this to get rid of excess inventory. Sega had hoped to sell 7.5 million units in the US by March 31, however so far there have just 4.5 million units sold.

$99 is a steal for a Dreamcast. At the same time, many DC games (including the superb Code Veronica) have fallen to $20 a pop. Look for even better deals ahead as Sega moves to divest itself of shitloads of back inventory.

Regardless of how Sega mismanaged the Dreamcast, the console is a ton of fun, with +400 games and quite a few sweet titles due out in coming weeks. Sega sure did blow this one, I knew about 5 people who were finally going to buy a DC for PSO and saw that the games were better, htey should have waited a month for this announcement, I bet they wait like I will...

You're under the assumption that they MAKE money off of the hardware. This is not so. They LOSE MONEY every dreamcast machine they sell and get it back off of software.
