Damn, someone beat me to it. Joystick101 is running a story on what the guys at DailyRadar have been up to trying to skew the facts behind Imagine Media's recent legal tanglings with Nintendo. Imagine Media is selling a book in stores with Pokemon characters all over it without the permission of Nintendo. DailyRadar is owned by Imagine Media.

So, Daily Radar steps in and makes a big fuss about being attacked by the giant Nintendo, but in the law suit, the name Daily Radar is neither mentioned or implied. This isn’t about the use of their screenshots in reviews or other Nintendo coverage. Each day, they’ve been posting a new rant about the lawsuit here [ed: link removed]. They have been asking their readers to send letters to Nintendo’s president and to flood them with email. They claim that Nintendo is infringing on their rights to 'fair use'...

What is also interesting is that this isnt the first time.. here is a report on a situation nearly identical last August. Hmmm... Thanks JayZee, for all 8 emails :)

Imagine a world where MONEY was a nonissue, but trademarks still existed. You'd still want to protect your trademarks...

Like, say, if someone "stole" "my" Saeger(tm) nickname, and started posting in context of the shack, I'd have to open some whoopass.

Okay.. I didn't realize people were thinking anything but this?! IGN releases unofficial guides quite a bit. A lot of companies do unofficial Pokemon stuff, too. We carry some magazine at the EB where I work that's a totally unlicensed pokemon product, but for some reason I can't recall the name of it. I assume they're getting sued, too, though.

Lets be honest, Daily radar's stunt is just a gay way to drum up attention.

Where did DR get the images for this book? I don't see the big fuss, other then nintendo is losing money, because this is nothing new. Nintedno is just mad that thay aren't totaly raping the 4-16 year old demograph with their pokemon crap and that others are using the craze to also make money.
