Elgato Game Capture 2.9 for Mac Supports iOS Capture With Only A Lightning Cable

Buckle up Shackers, Elgato Gaming has announce that the brand new Game Capture 2.9 for Mac will now allow users to capture iPhone and iPad footage with only a regular lightning cable. Truly a great moment for Modojo @ Shacknews as we will be able to capture a lot more games for our YouTube channel. Check out the Elgato's tweet announcing the news.

What's New in Game Capture 2.9?

To get the most out of this update, we highly recommend you run macOS High Sierra (10.13).

• iPhone & iPad Capture via Lightning Cable

  • Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac with a Lightning cable and it will appear as a device in Game Capture. No additional hardware is required. Streaming and recording high quality iOS content has never been easier.

• Wireless Apple TV Capture

  • If your Apple TV is on the same network as your Mac, you can select it as a device in Game Capture. Now you can easily capture content from your AppleTV – no strings attached (or cables, in this case). Note: for maximum performance, we recommend that your Apple TV and Mac are both connected via Ethernet, not WiFi.

• Improved Device Selection

  • With all these new options at your disposal, we've made it easier to switch between devices.

• More Ways to Optimize Performance

  • Not using Stream Command? You can now disable it to reduce CPU usage.

That is a lot of awesome features in this Game Capture 2.9 update! This update will make live streams of mobile and tablet-based games a lot easier for Apple users. Being able to capture Apple TV wirelessly is cool, but hopefully Apple actually gets more compelling exclusive titles like Sky by thatgamecompany. In the meantime, you can expect a lot more gameplay capture to come from our Modojo @ Shacknews team.
