No Man's Sky VR revealed during PlayStation State of Play

Today marks the debut of Sony's State of Play livestream, taking major announcements to the video format much like Nintendo has done, and the team didn't leave out the virtual reality community when it comes to the new announcements. Hello Games' space adventure has evolved in a major way since its launch and the next stage of the game, called Beyond, will include No Man's Sky VR.

No Man's Sky has added interactive multiplayer, additional story elements, base building,  space freighters, and a whole lot more since launch. Now, Hello Games is building virtual reality functionality for the space adventure and it doesn't seem like it will be a limited experience. The entirety of the game, including its nearly infinite number of planets, should be on the table when a player straps on the VR HMD and jumps in our our of their spaceship.

If done correctly, No Man's Sky VR will be an extremely engaging experience for virtual reality. Despite the rocky launch, NMS has evolved in a multi-layered survival adventure experience, letting players create and explore a massive world. In addition to VR, Hello Games is adding a new level to the multiplayer experience in No Man's Sky. Players can already interact and explore together because of a previous update, but the new one, called No Man's Sky Online, turns the game into a full-fledged massively multiplayer experience with social features like a friends list, messaging system, and more. The combination of No Man's Sky Online and VR will be an interesting one to witness.

No Man's Sky is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Beyond, the next major expansion of the game, will add multiplayer and VR functionality this summer. Tune in to Sony's State of Play livestream for the other PS4 and PS VR announcements, and also stay tuned to Shacknews for additional gaming and tech updates. No Man's Sky will also be coming to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, UploadVR reports.
