Battlefield 5 Firestorm battle royale mode coming this month

Battlefield 5's Firestorm battle royale has finally been dated, and it's also gotten a trailer showcasing what to expect from the upcoming mode for good measure.

There's a heavy focus on vehicles as the clip plays out, as well as the makings of an extremely chaotic and frenetic battle royale match, with gripping showdowns, plenty of scrambling for the all-important loot, and fire. Lots of fire everywhere. Get this – there's also a lot of gunplay! Bet you weren't expecting that, were you?

It makes sense to focus on vehicles, especially since there are 17 types of them in the game, including a prototype helicopter, tractors, tanks, and towable cannons, which you can see in the new footage.

The Battlefield 5 reveal trailer also features a rendition of Talking Heads' "Burning Down The House." It sounds like a cover (and not a particularly good one at that), but at least it fits the trailer's theme.

Firestorm is set to include solo modes, squads, and 64-player matches as it has players working in teams to "unlock high-risk, high-reward objectives, while exploring a map ten times large than Hamada." Duos are set to be unlocked in April with the upcoming "Chapter 3: Trial by Fire" update when it arrives.

As far as its titular mode, an oncoming firestorm (it's exactly what it sounds like) looks to replace the typical battle royale version of a "storm" with literal fire. It will continue to rampage through the environment as it makes its way through, and it looks pretty darn deadly. You won't want to be caught out in it – that's the point, of course, to avoid it.

At its conclusion, the trailer lets us know that the mode is hitting PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 25. Go ahead and round up your squad now.
