Samsung Bixby assistant adds new European language support

AI voice assistants are all the rage right now and Samsung is enhancing their own with some additional languages. Britsh English, German, Italian, and Spanish (Spain) are all joining the Bixby platform's already existing languages of US English, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese. They were all tested in an ongoing beta test and are available now globally.

Bixby is Samsung's addition to the AI-powered personal assistant market, allowing users to interact with a handful of applications and devices with voice commands. These new language additions open up opportunities for users in more markets to use their native language to search for flights, check sporting event scores, and more. If you're in the market for a new Samsung device and money is no object, you can blaze a new trail with the Samsung Galaxy Fold and put Bixby to use with your phone that transforms into a tablet.

“We are strongly committed to our AI business, and continuously expanding Bixby’s intelligence capabilities to provide more users with the best possible AI experience. Over the years, we have built and developed Bixby to become more scalable and intelligent, enriching experiences across services, devices, and languages. With the support of our partners and developers, Bixby will usher in the next generation of AI technology, and infuse more devices and services with intelligence,” said Eui-Suk Chung, Executive Vice President and Head of Software and AI, Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

Bixby isn't just a voice assistant. It can help consumers via the camera by identifying objects for purchase, recognizing landmarks while traveling, and just generally provided facts about the world around you. You can also set up smart reminders that integrate with some third-party apps and Bixby houses a simplified glance at your routine in one space. With it being built on a smart AI platform, it learns as you go so that it can provide you with recommendations more tailored to your tastes.

Full support for the new languages is available on flagship Samsung devices: Galaxy S10, S10e, S10+, and S10 5G. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional gaming and tech updates.
