The Nintendo Switch continues to be one of the most dominant home consoles of all time with a pretty impressive performance thus far, and a large part of its success is due to the device's software library. There's a lot to take away across the board, but the console's premier fighting game takes the cake. Launching on December 7, 2018, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold 12 million copies in 25 days.

Nintendo lowered Switch guidance, but still knocked it out of the park with higher than expected earnings results. On expectations of $1.36 billion, the company's operating profit for the quarter came to $1.46 billion.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate isn't the just the next entry in the series of fighters, it is a celebration of the all the titles that came before it and the characters/franchises that have been featured over the years. Every character has been playable in the series is in Ultimate and there are a handful of new faces, including the recently released Piranha Plant.
