MK11 fans petition to add Scooby Doo's Shaggy to roster

Major fighting games have established a pattern of welcoming some pretty farfetched crossover opportunities and NetherRealm is no stranger to this idea. MKX featured horror legend Jason Voorhees, Injustice 2 featured the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and fans have a pretty strange idea for who they'd like to see in Mortal Kombat 11. Shaggy Rogers from the Scooby-Doo franchise is the fighter over 75,000 Mortal Kombat fans want to see step into the bloodiest battlefield around.

WokenNews is the publication responsible for starting the Change.org petition. There's not a lot of additional information supplied in this petition beyond "we're calling on Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to give the fans the fighter they most certainly need," but over 75,000 people have signed.

That same publication also most recently published "Who Would Win: Chuck Norris or Shaggy?" They leave the answer up to the community, but the writer made a pretty strong case for the legendary stoner. If you're a Shaggy truther and want to support, there's the petition available and there's also the BadAssShaggy subreddit with over 22,000 subscribers. You're never alone, believer.

The Mortal Kombat 11 devs have only revealed six characters, not including the tease of Kabal's return to the series: Raiden, Skarlet, Baraka, Sonya, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and newcomer Geras. There's a lot of room available for new and returning Kombatants, but will this petition move the needle for NetherRealm? We'll have to wait and see. I think hearing Shaggy's voice inflection and speech pattern while getting destroyed in Mortal Kombat 11 would be equal parts hilarious and infuriating. If this happens, strike it down as one of the coolest events in gaming history immediately. Mortal Kombat 11 launches April 23, 2019, on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
