Tokyo Game Show 2018 has kicked off and, as promised, Square Enix has returned for more Kingdom Hearts. Last week, fans were treated to a first look at the Big Hero 6 world, as well as a brief look at what that world would entail. This week, there's much more narrative exposition, as Square Enix released an extended version of that trailer.

The newest trailer goes further into the overarching Kingdom Hearts III storyline, revealing a number of unexpected twists involving the game's main characters. It also goes further into the role of Organization XIII, thought to be defeated for good by the end of Kingdom Hearts II, as well as a surprising twist involving Sora's best friend, Riku.

In terms of gameplay, this trailer revealed a couple of new features. The most intriguing addition is the apparent confirmation of some sort of Photo Mode, which continues the recent trend of picture modes in major AAA releases. The trailer seems to indicate that this is more of a mini-game, but whether selfies are made a full-blown option remains to be seen.

Kingdom Hearts III is set to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29. There's quite a bit to unpack from this latest trailer, so be sure to come back shortly, as Shacknews offers a full-fledged breakdown.
