Artist BlocBoy JB calls out Fortnite for use of his "Shoot" dance as "Hype" emote

Epic Games has had the pleasure of witnessing their Fortnite game propel into pop culture status, even inspiring parents to hire Fortnite coaches for their children. Another element of Fortnite's popularity is the many emotes players can use in game, many of them inspired by movies, television shows, and music. One of the artists responsible for the song and subsequent dance for the "Hype" emote, Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB, aired his grivences with Fortnite and the developers behind the game via a Twitter post.

XXL magazine reported the tweet and shared that fellow artist Chance The Rapper also shared BlocBoy Jb's ire, suggesting the developers "put the actual rap songs behind the dances that make so much money as emotes." The idea is that emote purchases should benefit the creatives behind the dances or moves being used instead of only benefiting Epic Games. The "Hype" emote under the microscope can be seen in the video below at the 0:10 mark.
