Heh. Problem with North is where I'd want the canal to end (the top lake, north-east of Orthanc) would make the canal run right over Hemtroll's castle (I think -- the black one north of DCF). I doubt he'd be pleased with that.

Maybe the canal needs to be a big S or something. Take a bit of a scenic route.
