There was a large data loss on the WoW servers recently. Over a thousand guilds lost many or all of their items in their guild banks. For some guilds, the items were the result of 10s of thousands of hours of gameplay and were worth millions of gold (or many thousands of real life dollars when converted to wow tokens).
Blizzard has basically said the data is lost forever, and is refusing to make whole any of the guilds or customers affected.
If you've been following WoW at all, you'll know that Blizzard has basically gutted their customer support services and is relying almost entirely on AI bots for requests. Even before this, there were reports every day about someone being mass-reported by scammers or bot users when trying to call out their behaviour in the game, resulting in long or permanent bans which they're having an impossible time appealing through the support system due the lack of real humans to take customer complaints.
This post outlines a bit of what happened:

There have been lots of individual posts like this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/1foaz2k/my_guild_of_13_years_lost_every_item_and_not_even/
This is Blizzard's response:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/guild-bank-missing-items-update/1963451
"Due to how some of the data was lost, we’ve reached a point where the result will be an incomplete restoration for some guilds, and we do not have a way to restore the remaining missing items for them."
You'll recall that in WoW's past, game masters could essentially conjure whatever item they want from thin air and give it to players, so they definitely have the power to make this right. They simply won't do it because they don't have exact logs of what was lost, and refuse to believe the guilds who are making reports about the extent of their losses.

41 wowsWhen I was working at Fridays I got invited out with some folks to go drinking since I had just turned 21. Honestly, I wanted to but I had just finished a double and they were all riding together in a tiny car where I'd be the huge guy sitting in the middle between two girls. I was oily, I reeked of food and stale beer, I said I wanted to go home and shower first.
They ended up slamming into the side of a hotel at 70mph on 192.

39 wowsHi guys,
What a whirlwind it has been. How do I keep it short?
Sold everything in Canada, 2 cars, 2 bikes, big house. Packed our sentimentals into 10 medium sized boxes. Sold every bit of furniture, everything. Moved to the tiniest island in Croatia. I mean 1 store, 1 gas station, and the road that goes around start to finish like 20 min.
Was in major depression for a year (it's been 2 years now). I've already relocated twice. We are off the island now and in a little more comfy spot, people, traffic, malls. It's awesome. In September we hiked down for a swim and I slipped and fell 30 feet (10 meters they said) down a cliff. My leg blew right open from the knee down. My tiny wife carried me up the hill. No pain from the experience, looked down at my leg and it looked like gibs. Huge white calf bone with no meat around it.
Ended up in emergency surgery in the hospital, fever wouldn't go down, a second surgery after the leg went necrotic, then 3 x double skin grafts over the course of a week. It was a mess. 118 staples around the skin graft. 2 months in the hospital (3 square Croatian meals a day), NO painkillers (in the 2 months I got one 'tramadol' which is super light oxy), everything else was Ibuprofen. They are pretty strict about it here. Then another 2-3 months home rest and now I'm up and walking, lost all my muscle up and down my body from atrophy. My leg looks like something out of the thing, I remember the doctor saying '50/50' when I asked if I would lose it. Thank god.
Over the last 2 years I have been working on AI crossovers (Simpsons Sci-Fi and shit like that). I'm a professional artist by trade, but this is entertainment. Now, my socials blew up - I got naturally verified on Instagram which is at 116k followers and climbing, and Tiktok at almost 200k followers.
I don't love it anymore, it was just morbid curiosity with AI, now I am posting just to appease the fans. (I work fulltime for a US Immigration company as a VP of sales), but my side project has blown up into AI and I am starting to hate it.
I'm wondering if anyone has advice on changing a whole social platform to something else after amassing and appeasing so many people.
Sorry for the rant! I'm alive!
