Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode 3 getting two free DLC packs

Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode 3 getting two free DLC packs

While it may look like an 8-bit game, the third episode of Penny Arcade's Rain-Slick Precipice series is getting quite a modern feature: DLC. Two expansions have been announced, but don't fret--all of the add-on content will be free.

The first pack, "The Lair of the Seamstress," is coming "soon." Given Penny Arcade Expo is around the corner, it seems like a safe bet that its release will coincide with said event.

Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 review

Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 review

Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 chronicles the ongoing adventures of detectives Tycho Ephemerous Brahe and Jonathan Gabriel as they attempt to recover a book of mysterious power known as the Necrowombicon. The tome is stolen from the duo's offices by the nefarious Dr. Raven Darktalon Blood, and it's up to the scholarly intellectual and enthusiastically-violent man-child (and their friends) to get it back.

Penny Arcade Adventures 3 has hit a snag in the Xbox Live Indie Games peer review process, and as a result it will be pushed back slightly while developer Zeboyd Games fixes the problem and resubmits it. The PC version, however, is still on-track to release as planned next week on June 25.

Penny Arcade Adventures, Episode 3 preview

Penny Arcade Adventures, Episode 3 preview

For all their flaws, I enjoyed of the first two games in Penny Arcade's "On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness" saga. It was disappointing to learn that Hothead Games had decided to move onto other projects, leaving the four-part series unfinished. So to hear that the series was not only being revived with Episode 3, but developed by the studio behind the excellent RPG throwbacks Breath of Death VII and Cthulu Saves the World was welcome news.
