Uncovering Hidden Gems: Sine Mora

Uncovering Hidden Gems: Sine Mora

It's funny how so-called "sleeper" games manage to sneak past you, either because they don't generally appeal to mainstream gaming audiences, or they come out at a time when another game has your full attention. We've all seen our fair share of hidden gems that have managed to re-emerge and become favorites, and one of those games, without question, is a 2012 release for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, Digital Reality's and Grasshopper Manufacture's Sine Mora.

Killer is Dead preview: Mondo uncertainty

Killer is Dead preview: Mondo uncertainty

Even among the most ardent fans of Goichi Suda (aka "Suda 51"), I don't think it would be controversial to say that he specializes in style. Most of his major releases are marked by high-concept ideas and identifiable art styles, but the mechanics don't always match the ambition. Killer is Dead certainly has its own splashy stylistic identity, but as usual, some hands-on time made it hard to tell if the game would keep up.

Sine Mora coming to PS3 and Vita later this year

Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture's shmup baby, Sine Mora, is no longer an Xbox-exclusive. The shooter will hit PlayStation Network--on both Vita and PS3.

"More important than anything, we created something we love, and we know Sine Mora will be loved yet again on PlayStation 3," Digital Reality's Balazs Horvath said in a press release. Oddly, he seems to have omitted the fact that the game was originally announced as a multiplatform release.

Warner Bros. thinks Lollipop Chainsaw might make a good movie

According to Lollipop Chainsaw's lead writer James Gunn, Grasshopper Manufacture's upcoming game about a cheerleader ridding her high school of zombies with a chainsaw has some silver-screen potential. The quirky and violent concept doesn't exactly seem like mainstream movie material, but Gunn asserts that publisher Warner Bros. approached him about just such a cross-over project during the game's early development stages.
