Game Room Launches, Issues Resolved (Updated)

Update: Game Room PC is now functioning correctly and playable on our end.

The server issues that afflicted this morning's launch of Game Room have been resolved on Xbox 360 but not PC, meaning some but not all can access the retro game marketplace.

Available as a free download through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live, Microsoft and Krome Studios' Game Room presents a virtual arcade filled with an ever-growing library of old classics from Atari, Intellivision, Konami and others.

Each of those classic games can purchased for use on one platform (PC or Xbox 360) at 240 Microsoft Points / $3 or for use on both (PC and Xbox 360) at 400 MS Points / $5, with free timed demos and single-credit play (40 MS Points / 50 cents) also available.

After Game Room launched this morning, players complained that they were unable to actually enter the online arcade, as the loading bar would cease moving at a point on the Xbox 360 version, while the PC edition simply wouldn't install at all.

Xbox Live programming director Larry Hyrb quickly noted that the problem was being investigated and later said it was fixed--and it is, at least on Xbox 360. As for Game Room PC, Shacknews was able to install it but was unable to play any games due to an error message that read "The Game Room server is not available at this time."
