MTV Games has confirmed to Shacknews that the new tracks contained within the European edition of Harmonix's multi-instrument music title Rock Band will be released in North America as downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 iterations.

As revealed this morning, the UK release of Rock Band will pack nine new songs:

  • Blur "Beetlebum" (English)
  • Oasis "Rock 'n' Roll Star" (English)
  • Tokio Hotel "Monsoon" (English)
  • Muse "Hysteria" (English)
  • Les Wampas "Manu Chao" (French)
  • Playmo "New Wave" (French)
  • Die Toten Hosen "Hier Kommt Alex" (German)
  • Juli "Perfekte Welle" (German)
  • H-Block X "Countdown to Insanity" (German)

The company has not yet revealed pricing details or a date for the North American release of the content, though common sense suggests it may coincide with the European debut of Rock Band on May 22.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Subject to opinion....Beetlebum is one of Blur's best crafted songs and the strongest opener on any record to date in my opinion. It's a fantastic song with tons of layers, wonderful lyrics and songwriting, I mean what do you want? As a huge blur fan picking that song is like nailing a jackpot. Beetlebum is also one of the few tracks that I've found non-blur fans and strangers of the music liking instantly across the board. Just my .02 but worthy of saying.
