But what about a military unit, armed with such fancy equipment yet burdened with so much more responsibility? The new DLC 'Lifeline' will tackle that question, developer Undead Labs has revealed.

State of Decay MMO hinted as ArenaNet co-founder joins studio

Undead Labs had planned all along for State of Decay to be a stepping stone to a zombie apocalypse MMORPG, and it seems to be getting closer. The developer today announced it's hired Patrick Wyatt, a veteran of Blizzard, a co-founder of Guild Wars dev ArenaNet, and a founding member of Tera publisher En Masse. What he's working on, and what Undead Labs' recent multi-game deal with Microsoft means, is a secret, but, well, look, he's hinting pretty hard that it's an MMO.

State of Decay due on PC this year, lightly jazzed up

Undead Labs has been hesitant to say quite when the PC edition of its open-world zombie 'em up State of Decay will arrive, as it's still working a lot on the Xbox 360 version, but has tossed out its most specific release window so far: this year. As you'd expect, it should be a little fancier than on Xbox 360, if you have a solid enough PC.

State of Decay update 2 out today

It started in Australia but didn't stay there for long. Within hours it was rolling across borders and drifting across seas, a wave of undead crashing against shores. State of Decay declared 'fastest selling original game ever' on XBLA

After selling 250,000 copies in two days, it was pretty clear State of Decay would do pretty well for itself. The open-world zombie 'em up passed 500,000 sales within its first week, publisher Microsoft Studios has announced, declaring it "the fastest selling original game ever on Xbox Live Arcade." The "original" bit is to exclude Minecraft, see.

What now? Undead Labs is still working on patches, apparently doesn't have too much to do on the PC edition, and making a sandbox mode. Beyond that, well, there's still its dream of a full-on zombie MMO, codenamed 'Class4'.

State of Decay first title update not working

The promised first update for open-world survive 'em up State of Decay went live over the weekend, or so it seemed. Unfortunately, the fixes it was supposed to bring were clearly not in effect, and after a bit of checking developer Undead Labs has confirmed that "the update was being downloaded, but not applied." It's working on getting this working, but can say when that might be.

State of Decay update coming as sales pass 250k; PC version won't be 'soon'

Just when everyone seemed bored stiff of zombies, State of Decay launched last week and shook a little life into the genre. That sentence contained two jokes. The open-world zombie 'em up sold a whopping 250,000 copies in its first two days on sale, developer Undead Labs announced, also revealing that an XBLA title update is in the pipe. Alas, it also says the PC version won't be coming soon "by any meaningful use of the word 'soon'."
