I love the game but it's sad in a way. Valve seems to have totally abandoned the telling of long stories for momentary thrills.
Aperture Science is supposed to be part of the Half-Life world. How in the name of the devil is it to fit in now? It it's been completely ignored for centuries that means that the world has effectively ended. If either the Combine or the Resistance had won, it would be hard to believe that one or the other of them, or both, didn't ever bother to check the home base of the owners of the Borealis. Instead, it's been just left to grow weeds.
So now it seems HL Episode 3 is going to end badly for the Freeman.
That is, if they ever bother writing it. It seems the huge financial success of Team Fortress 2 has given them all a bad case of ADD. Hats are sooooo much easier than plots.
