Following an official announcement last month, Bandai Namco today published the inaugural trailer for Code Vein, an action-RPG featuring vampires and anime-inspired visuals.

"In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it," per a press release. "Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity."

The trailer zeroes in on Code Vein's combat and companions, and teases some of the characters in Bandai Namco's mysterious new universe. You'll open up combat strategies depending on the companion you choose to fight alongside you.

It's too early for Bandai Namco to give Code Vein a firm release date. The publisher says to watch for the game sometime in 2018.
