Jak & Daxter Getting a Facelift for PS4 Later This Year

Naughty Dog is remastering four classic PS2 games from the series

We haven't seen a Jak & Daxter game for more than 12 years, not counting the PS3 and Vita ports of Jak 3 in 2012 and 2013. But all that is about to change as developer Naughty Dog is remastering the original trilogy for release later this year on PlayStation 4.

PS2 classics Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, and Jak 3 are all being redone to support 1080p resolution, and to add trophies for players who are into that sort of reinforcement. Additional features will include Shareplay, Remote Play, and Activity Feeds, but you better have a PlayStation Plus membership to use all the online features.

In addition, Jak X: Combat Racing will also be coming to PS4 later this year with Play Adventure and Exhibition modes. Online play won't be supported, but you can still do split screen action with friends on the couch.

It's nice to see Naughty Dog jump back into the Jak series, even if just for a remaster. The developer has been rather immersed in The Last of Us and the Uncharted series, and pawned a Crash Bandicoot remaster off on developer Vicarious Visions. Love and respect for classics is always a good thing.
