New Prey Mimic Matter Trailer Shows Off The Typhon's Brains and Brawn

Face off against the enemy aliens in Prey by turning their own attacks against them.

Bethesda's upcoming reboot of Prey will offer several ways you can combat the alien Typhon race that have overrun the space station Talos I. But you can take them on head to head by using some of their own abilities against them by way of using Typhon abilities that you can learn by scanning the very enemies you're hunting.

Among the abilities is the intriguing Mimic Matter, which you'll be able to draw from the Mimic Typhon enemy. It allows you to take the form of basically any item aboard Talos I, beginning with smaller items like a coffee cup, banana, or lamp. But as you continue to level up your newly-acquired ability, you'll be able to use Mimic on bigger items like turrets and robots, and additional things around the space station that could surprise us.

You can see it all go down in the latest trailer for Prey, which for the uninitiated is a reboot of the original series. The two games won't be directly connected, and this new vision of Prey will follow an alternate history where President John F. Kennedy had previously survived the assassination attempt on his life in 1963.

As a result of Kennedy's continued tenure as President, the United States' space program flourished, resulting in the creation of the space station Talos I. When the alien species known as the Typhon are kept on Talos I as a sort of "prison" after terrorizing humanity, years later they'll return to harass Prey's protagonist Morgan Yu, the subject of an experiment gone wrong. When he wakes up, he's got to use everything at his disposal to keep the advancing threats at bay, as well as figure out whate exactly is going on around him.

Prey is planned for launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 5, 2017. If you preorder ahead of time, you'll get the Cosmonaut Shotgun pack, which grants you access to Morgan Yu's family heirloom Margrave shotgun, a Fabrication plan for additional shotgun ammunition, two Medkits, a starter kit for creating additional tools nad items, three Neuromods for new abilities, and a special upgrade.
