In a move that Nintendo warned us about, the company has shut down production of the Wii U in Japan.

According to the official site (translated by dranyastudio on Reddit), "Wii U has finished all production in Japan." The move was followed by a tweet from Wall Street Journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki that "Nintendo chief Kimishima said the firm plans to increase production of Switch," adding that the Nintendo boss said pre-orders have been good.

Mochizuki also said Nintendo Japan has a corporate strategy meeting planned for tomorrow morning (Japan time).

Nintendo just raised their financial forecast after strong showings by Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run.
