Nintendo Switch line-up to get 'in-depth look' next week

The Japanese announcement stream will be followed by a Treehouse Live presentation the following morning.

Nintendo is preparing to roll out the red carpet for its next console, with a presentation planned for next Thursday evening that is expected to give a more specific release date and price. Nintendo of America's Treehouse has now detailed its own stream planned for the following morning at 6:30 AM PT / 9:30 AM ET.

The announcement promises an "in-depth look at upcoming games" that had been previewed in the previous night's presentation, so we're likely to get more details in the more casual Treehouse stream setting. That initial presentation will take place at 8 PM PT / 11 PM ET, due to it broadcasting directly from Japan. Shacknews will bring you all the news from both the presentation itself, and the more in-depth previews the following day.

Doesn't the press get behind closed door look the day before?

I thought the whole point of them having these presentations was to eliminate that and communicate directly with everyone.

Kind of! The presentation on the 12th will be from Japan, in the evening, and then the US press access is the following day. It may even be happening concurrently with this Treehouse presentation. Depending on where and how they host it you might see Asif and I wandering around somewhere.

Groovy. Was thinking about booking the 13th off anyway so I could focus on securing preorder but this just seals it. :D

you really think they'll announce preorders then?

Once official release date and price is known retailers will start their own preorder programs regardless. Unit allocations won't be known which is why having one of the first few preorders at a given retailer is important (assuming they honour order).

Good to know! I figured I'd be standing in line at a 24-hour Walmart again

Treehouse Live next week, we get two E3s this year!

Also, super res images from the Japanese website: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/switch/assets/img/gallery/gallery01.jpg

You can clearly see the shoulder button on the Joycon when it is removed from the Switch in the bottom image, making it eight buttons and a thumbstick (which I presume also clicks down) per Joycon.
