Publisher Atlus has expanded their development efforts by opening up an all-new studio.
Called Studio Zero, the studio will be led by former Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino. He will oversee the studio in a producer/director role.
Studio Zero is also currently working on a brand new fantasy RPG title outside of any of Atlus’ regular stable of franchises. Few details are known about it at this point, but we are expecting to learn more during a livestream on December 23rd.
“"The Shin Megami Tensei series was released as an 'opposition' to such a 'common' world view, and the Persona series was released as its spin-off. Both series, even today in their latest entries, have always been made with the concept that it will be a counter to the times,” he says. “And now, in addition to continuing the titles within those series, what will our approach to a new RPG be? That is, to challenge the norms of the genre gamers have been consuming for decades.
"The challenge is about to begin. We would be happy if you would stand by for the moment we began from zero and the moment we began our challenge from zero."
Some of the other franchises in Atlus’ stable of RPGs include the Persona and the Shin Megami Tensei series, one of which will be seeing a high-profile release in 2017 with Persona 5.
