Dishonored 2 has a 9GB Day One patch on PS4 and Xbox One

Don't expect to start playing Dishonored 2 as soon as it comes out as you'll first need to download quite a heavy Day One patch.

We’re just a few days away from the release of Dishonored 2, but copies have already started to go out. As a result, we’re learning the console versions of the game has a 9GB Day One patch that will be triggered once the game completes its initial installation.

A number of reports have come in that show a 9GB Day One patch is available for the PlayStation 4 version, which we can also confirm is available on the Xbox One. We have yet to confirm if a similar Day One patch is available for the PC version, but we think it’s safe to assume PC owners will need to download a similar patch.

The 9GB Day One patch is expected to improve loading times, texture streaming, audio mixing, shadow quality, frame rate, and a number of miscellaneous bug fixes.

Dishonored 2 will be released on November 11 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Yup. Better to get the updates on launch than not at all, it's not like they're doing this to spite us. It's always been like this - silent revisions even on old console games.

Yeah, and honestly it probably means people could get the game this holiday instead of in the spring or something, since they could keep working things out after submitting the launch version.

Bethesda's new review policy is suddenly making a lot of sense (from their standpoint). They can rush a pile of shit into production, then crunch the devs to death right up until release day (and beyond). No more worrying about buggy, unfinished games getting hurt with bad reviews. Very sneaky...

That's a pretty strange thing to say, considering poor reviews have not been a problem for Bethesda as a publisher, and Bethesda the developer has pretty high retention from what I've heard. (I'd assume that the policies that result in high retention in BethSoft would apply to other developers as well.)
