Gears of War 4's Halloween event adds pumpkin balls and gear

Look for a new elite gear pack tomorrow, October 27, too.

Microsoft and Gears of War 4 developer The Coalition revealed details for the game's Halloween event, a special rule set called Pumpkin Ball.

"Pumpkin Ball is a remix of Dodgeball that introduces 1 second respawn times and reduced respawn protection, resulting in a faster paced Dodgeball experience where the dead don't stay dead for long," per the description on the official Gears of War 4 website.

You can partake by joining in a Pumpkin Ball playlist featuring five of the "darker" maps from Gears 4: Fallout, Forge, Lift, Impact, and Harbor.

Moreover, players will sport pumpkin heads and bonus XP rewards exclusive to Pumpkin Ball. It's available now in the Versus menu under the Events heading.

Halloween festivities continue tomorrow, Thursday the 27th, when the Halloween Elite Pack hits the Gears 4 store. "This special purchasable pack is a variant on the Elite Gear Pack, with one card in each guaranteed to be Epic or Legendary quality. Legendary Cards from this pack are exclusively from the Day of the Dead Legendary Collection. The Halloween Elite Pack is available until November 1st."
