Red Faction may be coming to PS4, according to ratings board

PEGI has the PS2 classic for the current Sony console, but nothing on the ESRB yet.

With any console upgrade, there are always older games that you wish would be backward compatible or get a remaster. Well, good news Red Faction fans. A ratings board entry could mean the PS2 classic will be making the transition to PlayStation 4 soon.

PEGI, which handles game ratings in Europe, has listed the title (via NeoGAF) as PEGI 16, submitted by publisher THQ Nordic. The ESRB currently does not have a similar listing for the United States. No other details are known at this point.

This would not be the first time that THQ Nordic has pushed through an older title from THQ's library. The company, which acquired the THQ trademark and several franchises in 2013, went the same route with Destroy All Humans!, which was listed on PEGI first and then the ESRB. That game, which appears to be a full remaster of the PS2 game, is expected to be released on the PlayStation Store soon, after an aborted launch on October 18 when it appeared on the store for $19.99, but disappeared shortly thereafter.

Nordic Games rebranded itself to THQ Nordic in August and announced it was working on 13 unannounced games in the work. We will have to wait and see if Red Faction as a remastered version is one of them.
