Is Skyrim just bait for Switch? Bethesda refuses to confirm the game

But it was in the Nintendo reveal video!

Nintendo's reveal video for the new Switch yesterday showed off a few games, among them The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Naturally, fans were buzzing over the news, but now Bethesda is putting the brakes on the chatter ... for now.

"We're happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video," a Bethesda spokesperson told GameIndustry.biz. "While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future."

Given that Nintendo took the time to put the game in the video and Bethesda acknowledges that it worked with them on it, it seems unlikely that the game is not in the works and more likely that Bethesda just doesn't want to reveal it yet as part of its marketing strategy. It may also be trying to avoid any sales impact that a Switch version may have on Skyrim Remastered for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 coming on October 28.

Whatever the reason, we still have plenty of time to find out the laundry list of launch titles for Nintendo's new device, so stay tuned.

Yeah... did they ever patch in better controller support? I got really into it last April/May or so and playing with gamepad was kinda frustrating, ended up going to mouse/keyboard to get better control over where I was planting/harvesting.

I honestly didn't know it was available outside of PC lol. It would be pretty dope to play on a handheld

I don't think it is available outside of PC at this point, I just played it with a gamepad on my PC thru steam link.

Bethesda would not hesitate to issue a C&D if someone were using their game without permission.

Yeah I can't imagine Nintendo just decided, "Hey, let's use gameplay footage of Skyrim even though it'll never be on this system."

Bethesda is just not ready to announce the port yet.

I've played Skyrim to death but I'd probably buy it again to have it portable. But what's exciting to me is that if it can play Skyrim, it may be able to play a lot of other games from that generation too. I'd love to play Mass Effect on it.
