A new update for the Pandora Xbox One app will soon be available that will allow users to listen to their tunes in the background while either playing games or using another application, such as Internet Explorer, or Microsoft Edge, or whatever the heck Microsoft has for a browser on the system these days.

Lead Xbox engineer Mike Ybarra revealed the update through his Twitter account yesterday evening, saying the update would be available “over the next 24 hours.” His tweet was submitted last night around 7PM ET, so Xbox One users should expect the functionality to be available this evening.

Background music support for the Xbox One is something the majority of users have been wanting, especially since the Xbox 360 could handle the task as soon as it was released. Earlier this month, an Xbox engineer released his own application, called Simple Background Music Player, which would allow users the ability to listen to music from a connected USB device. Shortly after its launch, Microsoft released background music support for its Groove Music service.

With background music support coming to Pandora today, we’re taking another step in the right direction to full support across all music streaming services and applications. It’s just a shame it took so long to get here.
