Following yesterday's leak, Bandai Namco has formally announced Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel, the first of two DLC expansions planned for From Software's Dark Souls finale.

In the same vein of the frosted castle and city of Eleum Loyce found in Dark Souls 2's Crown of the Ivory King expansion, Ashes of Ariandel will feature a winter wonderland environment. "Players are tasked to enter the land of Ariandel and defeat the evil within to uncover the mystery of what has caused the land to become defiled," according to a press release issued by Bandai Namco.

Besides new vistas, Ashes of Ariandel will include new weapons, armor, and magic. A PVP zone called Immortal Competition will give you a chance to strut your build's stuff against other players.

The DLC will release on October 25 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It will cost $14.99 separately, or you can get it as part of Dark Souls 3's season pass for $24.99.
