While previous zombie modes took place within the same universe as the campaigns of their respective Call of Duty games, Infinite Warfare's undead appear to be stalking the living in a disparate setting. Activision's mention of popcorn references a teaser image depicting a film reel and popcorn released earlier this year.
Activision and IW could be implying that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's zombies mode will play out as some sort of in-game movie that you'll play through, as if experiencing the struggle from a character's point of view.
All will be revealed next on the 16th, one day before Gamescom kicks off. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is still on track for a November release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
