Square Enix’s Tokyo RPG Factory studio has reportedly lost 244 million yen, or approximately 2.4 million USD, according to Square Enix’s financial statements of its fiscal year ending in Marc 2016.

The Official Gazette’s latest publication reports Square Enix Holdings saw a loss of 244 million yen from its Tokyo RPG Factory, who is the development studio behind the homage to classic JRPGs, I am Setsuna. I am Setsuna released in Japan in February 2016 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, while the title released around the world in July 2016 on PC and PlayStation 4.

I am Setsuna sold a total of 61,623 copies during its opening week in Japan, which isn’t necessarily a bad launch, although it isn’t seen as a great one for a big publisher like Square Enix. Hopefully the title fared better when it released to the West, or we may not be seeing any more games from Tokyo RPG Factory for a while, or ever for that matter.
