Want to see how Persona 5 starts? Welcome to the Velvet Room.

Persona 5 is currently scheduled to release in North America on February 14, 2017, but it will be released in Japan five months earlier on September 15, 2016. With just two months left to go until its Japanese release, Atlus has decided to release the first 18 minutes of Persona 5

Persona 5 starts off with what we believe to be a disclaimer about the game being a work of fiction, that is, based on the translation YouTube provides. We then are introduced to The Trickster, which is the protagonist of the game, as he attempts to steal something of importance from a large casino.

We’re then taken to some in-game action as The Trickster attempts to make his escape from inside of the casino, which requires the player to press the “O” button in order to jump across several obstacles. The Trickster is then confronted by a large demon, which initiates the game’s battle sequence. We can see The Trickster use his Persona to deliver some magical attacks, and then finish off the demon through the use of his sword and gun.

We won’t ruin the rest of the video if you’re planning on watching it. Just know that the rest of the video is definitely worth watching if you’re interested in playing Persona 5. And considering how many hours of entertainment Persona 5 will offer, watching the first 18 minutes won’t make such a huge impact on your experience when the game releases on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in February.
