Pikmin 4 still in development, just not a priority now, Miyamoto says

Nintendo should be moving it up the priority list soon.

Not much has been said about Pikmin 4 since developer Shigeru Miyamoto said during E3 2015 that it was close to completion. With the NX on the horizon, it seems the game would be a logical complement to the new hardware. But apparently, the game has been on a back burner.

"We’re working on [Pikmin 4]," Miyamoto-san told GameRant at this year's E3. "So, you know, when we’re in development we have to create a list of priorities and it has been hard to kind of fit that into that list, but we’re hopefully starting to see that on the list now.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was on full display at E3 this year, and Myamoto has already said that the company was working on a new idea as well. Coupled with Nintendo's push toward mobile and a new type of Mario game planned, it is understandable that the company may have split attention. For now at least, fans of Captain Olimar can rest easy knowing the game is still coming.
