On a livestream broadcast on Facebook, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced a sequel to Wreck-It Ralph for release in theaters on March 9, 2018.

What's the holdup? After wrecking video games in his feature film debut in 2012, Ralph has set his sights on the Internet, and, well, that's a lot of pipes. Fortunately, he's in good hands. Disney reassembled the team from the first movie, including co-directors Rich Moore (recently of Zootopia fame) and Phil Johnston, co-writer on Wreck-It Ralph.

John C. Reilly, the voice of Ralph, announced the sequel alongside his colleagues at Disney. Concept art from the film appeared on Disney's Twitter.

No plot details besides Ralph entering the Internet alongside Vanellope von Schweetz, his tiny companion from the first movie, have been released. In what could be a tease, director Rich Moore has mentioned that he'd love to get Nintendo to sign off on letting Mario appear in a sequel.
